Mindfulness workshops in 2019

Niamh will guide a morning of mindfulness practice as part of Liselott Olofsson’s installation “Bearing Witness to Violence Against Women” in the Upstairs Space of The Watergate Theatre on Sunday, August 18th. 10.30-1pm. 

From artist Liselott Oloffson: 

"My research for this installation, which I began developing during a residency at The Pottery Workshop, China, was initially inspired by radio reports in April 2018 about the violent deaths of women in Ireland, some of them as young as 14. In conveying findings on this issue from the Women’s Aid Report 2017 through ceramics and other materials, this work draws attention to the situation that many women face every day in Ireland. I felt a personal need to respond to these reports and add to the awareness that Women’s Aid has developed since it started recording statistics in 1996. In that time, 225 women have died violently in Ireland — with 16 children being killed alongside their mothers." 

Cost €15, 50% of which is donated to Amber Women’s Refuge, Kilkenny.
